Award: Plumbing and Fire Sprinklers Award 2010 (MA000036)
All employees are entitled to a minimum wage (outlined below), and a set of entitlements, known as the National Employment Standards (NES).
Base hourly rate of pay
Inc. Allow: Hourly wage inclusive of all purpose allowances: Industry allowance, Plumbing Trade allowance(%), Tool allowance(%) at appropriate rates.
In some circumstances, the rates that PAV will pay apprentices may be slightly higher than the award.
Below are the rates applicable to PAV apprentices. Please note that the Award allows for lower rates of pay for apprentices who have not completed Year 12 than PAV pays.

Full time apprentices will be rostered to work maximum of 40 hours per week, and these hours are known as ‘Ordinary hours’. The usual system of work under this award is to accrue 0.4 hours of each day toward an RDO instead of being paid, but this can be varied by agreement.
For example, if an apprentice works a 40 hour work week, they will be paid for 38 hours, and 2 hours will be put in their RDO bank. In the fourth week, there will be enough hours banked for the apprentice to take an RDO.

For the purpose of this award shiftworker means an employee who works ordinary hours any shift finishing after 6:00pm and at or before 6:00am.
A continuous shiftworker is defined as someone who works in a system of consecutive shifts throughout the 24 hours of each of at least 6 consecutive days without interruption, and is regularly rostered to work those shifts. Continuous shiftworkers are entitled to an extra week of annual leave per year.

If an employee is asked to stay back, or is called in on his/her off day, this is known as “overtime”.
