Host a PAV Apprentice

Master Plumbers operates a Registered Group Training Organisation (GTO) dedicated to recruit and train plumbing apprentices, Plumbing Apprenticeships Victoria (PAV). All staff are hand-picked, trained and managed by Master Plumbers and are hired to you for the duration needed.

Plumbing Apprenticeships Victoria (PAV) is Victoria’s industry Group Training Scheme and is wholly operated by Master Plumbers. In partnership with the Victorian State Government, PAV is dedicated to providing plumbing businesses with high quality, multi-skilled apprentices.

Simple staff costing

Employers are charged an agreed hourly rate for hours worked. This is inclusive of award wages, standard allowances, overtime and non-productive time such as off-job training attendance, sick leave and annual leave.

Flexible staffing hours

Hire from one week to the term of an apprenticeship based on your labour needs.

Cost-effective – the apprentice fills in a weekly timesheet so you only pay for hours worked.

Extensive administration support

PAV staff manage all apprentice training and skill development. In addition we monitor the apprentice’s performance within your workplace, ensuring a successful placement.

Reduced administration cost

We take care of all employer associated admin including payment of wages and superannuation, Work Cover, supply of personal protective equipment, enrollment at trade school and completion of training agreement.

Apprentice contract management

Under the contract, we employ the apprentice. We manage the contract and mentor the apprentice, leaving host employers free to do what they do best – run their business.

Businesses can hire apprentices at any year level for the minimum duration of three weeks, and return them with a week’s notice. This gives you the ultimate control in staffing flexibility.

Our rates include all on-costs so you only pay when they are working and productive on the job, having all entitlements, trade school fees, workers compensation premiums and costs rolled into a single simple hourly rate you can easily on-charge to your client.

How we do it

Master Plumbers is a registered Group Training Organisation. We receive Government funding and we use it to subsidise our first-year apprentices.

Even though the wage rates and therefore on-costs are vastly different, we do not differentiate in our charge-out rate between Juniors (under 21 at commencement) and Adults (21 and over at commencement).

This is because we are here to supply the best labour to the industry and we do not consider age a relevant factor.
