The Excellence Awards recognise outstanding achievement across the plumbing industry, celebrating individuals and businesses who demonstrate skill, leadership, innovation and a commitment to raising industry standards. These awards highlight excellence at every stage of a plumbing career, from emerging talent to experienced professionals – on and off the tools.

The highest honour presented by Master Plumbers and the most prestigious industry accolade awarded to plumbing apprentices.
First awarded in 1908 to George Stone, the Gold Medal carries more than a century of tradition in recognising exceptional skill, dedication, and professionalism in the plumbing trade.
Named in tribute to Andrew Letten, a long-serving plumbing examiner in Victoria, the award reflects his commitment to maintaining the highest standards in apprentice training and assessment.
Each year, the Gold Medal recipient is chosen from the winners of the
Frank Maskell General Plumbing Award,
NA Smith Gas Award, and
Mechanical Services Award, representing the very best across these specialist fields.
Winning the Andrew Letten Gold Medal is a career-defining achievement and a lasting symbol of excellence, carrying forward the proud legacy of the plumbing profession.
These awards celebrate the achievements of dedicated plumbing professionals who have excelled in their trade and made a meaningful contribution to their business and the broader industry.
The Frank Maskell General Plumbing Award, NA Smith Gas Award, and Mechanical Services Award recognise apprentices who completed their apprenticeship in the previous calendar year or are due to complete in the current year. Winners of these categories are then eligible for the prestigious Andrew Letten Gold Medal.
The Rose Curtis Award honours the outstanding achievements of women in the plumbing industry, recognising excellence, leadership, and dedication to the trade.
Open to apprentices who completed their apprenticeship in 2025 or are due to complete in 2026 and work in sanitary, drainage, or roofing plumbing.
Open to apprentices who completed their apprenticeship in 2025 or are due to complete in 2026 and specialise in gas services plumbing.
Open to apprentices who completed their apprenticeship in 2025 or are due to complete in 2026 and work in mechanical services.
Presented to a female plumbing professional or apprentice who has demonstrated excellence in her trade and made a significant contribution to the industry.
For more than 130 years, Master Plumbers has promoted, rewarded, educated, and trained the plumbing industry. Through a wide range of apprentice employment and training opportunities, Master Plumbers is committed to developing the next generation of highly skilled plumbing professionals.
Master Plumbers RTO delivers the Certificate III in Plumbing at purpose-built, state-of-the-art training facilities located at PICAC Brunswick and Narre Warren.
This award is available to a current 1st Year Master Plumbers RTO Apprentice.
This award is available to a current 2nd Year Master Plumbers RTO Apprentice.
This award is available to a current 3rd Year Master Plumbers RTO Apprentice in the general plumbing field.
This award is available to a current 3rd Year Master Plumbers RTO Apprentice in the mechanical services field.
Plumbing Apprenticeships Victoria (PAV) is Master Plumbers’ Group Training Scheme, established in 1981 to meet the growing needs of the plumbing industry.
PAV is dedicated to training multi-skilled apprentices and connecting them with plumbing businesses, providing a strong foundation for a highly skilled and rewarding career. Apprentices gain valuable experience through placements with a variety of host employers across different sectors of the plumbing industry, broadening their skills and industry knowledge.
Host employers benefit from access to enthusiastic first to fourth year apprentices for both short and long-term placements, while PAV manages all employment-related administration and paperwork.
Available to a current first year Plumbing Apprenticeships Victoria (PAV) apprentice.
Available to a current second year Plumbing Apprenticeships Victoria (PAV) apprentice.
Available to a current third year Plumbing Apprenticeships Victoria (PAV) apprentice.
Available to a current fourth year Plumbing Apprenticeships Victoria (PAV) apprentice.
Recognises PAV host employers who have introduced innovative improvements in apprentice development and training, delivering meaningful outcomes for apprentices and the broader plumbing industry.
The Master Plumbers Business Awards celebrate excellence, innovation, and leadership within the plumbing community.
These awards recognise member businesses and individuals who consistently raise industry standards, inspire others, and deliver exceptional service.
From outstanding administrative support to high-performing small and large businesses, the awards showcase the professionalism, innovation, and dedication of Master Plumbers members across Victoria.
Presented to a Master Plumbers member employee who goes above and beyond, demonstrating leadership, innovation, integrity, and a passion for helping colleagues and their business succeed.
Recognises member businesses with fewer than five employees (Category B and C members) that demonstrate excellence in workmanship, innovation, customer care, and community engagement.
Recognises member businesses with more than five employees (Category D, E and F members) for outstanding performance in project delivery, innovation, community engagement, and customer service.

The Andrew Letten Gold Medal Award is the most prestigious honour presented by Master Plumbers and the highest industry accolade awarded to apprentices.
The Master Plumbers Excellence Awards are Victoria’s premier celebration of the plumbing industry, backed by more than 130 years of credibility and influence. The event brings together industry leaders, businesses, apprentices and decision-makers from across the state.
Following sold-out events at Melbourne Zoo and the MCG, the refreshed awards format delivers greater sponsor visibility across a broader and more diverse audience, showcasing excellence across all sectors of the industry.
